Jajarm Alumina plant

The primary source for production of alumina with chemical formula Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) is Bauxite which is aluminum oxide bearing complex ore. Aluminum mineral in Bauxite ore can be formed in the various type of gibbsite, boehmite or diaspore. Jajarm mine bauxite type is diasporic which needs additional processing provisions in compare with more common type of gibbsite ore. The extraction process of alumina from bauxite by Bayer Process is the common process for digestion of alumina which is solvable in a caustic solution but other components of bauxite are not dissolvable.

Digestion process needs autoclave condition. While Gibbsite type can be treated in atmospheric digestion condition, diasporic bauxite treatment requires higher temperature above 200 degrees centigrade under adequate pressure. So digesting condition of hot caustic environment with high temperature and high pressure needs particular design provisions with combined cycle of heating kiln and waste heat recovery, closed circuit pre-heating, digestion in digesting reactors, sequential flashing and recycling of steam, as being adopted in project process line.

The production line in upstream and downstream of digestion unit comprises verities of measures for preparation and supplementary treatment including Settling /clarification for dividing of liquor from insoluble tailings ,then parallel tailing treatment and red mud disposing plus product processing line including aluminum hydroxide precipitation from liquor, hydroxide filtration, calcination of hydroxide to produce alumina powder and also having auxiliary process units for lime treating , water treating ,boiler house ,fuel storage facility etc. which are necessary for process complex .
