Project Information

According to IMIDRO Master Plan and based on country existing Aluminum Smelters (Iralco and Almahdi at that time) and related expansion projects, plus new additional project of Sout Aluminum Project (SALCO), total production capacity of 750,000 tpy was planning of country achievable Aluminum production capacity at initial phase. Then, this capacity was targeted to be increased to 1,500,000 tpy in next phases.

Provision of feed i.e. Alumina for initial capacity of 750,000 tpy was the subject of Feasibility Study and conceptual design of required Alumina plant as a project under the title of Persian Gulf Alumina project being awarded to Namvaran by IMIDRO.

For this purpose, capacity of 2×800,000 tpy Alumina and provision of Basic Raw Material (Bauxite) from Guinea Leguetera deposit of Dabola Mine, were assumed for developing project studies.

The conceptual design has been done based on technological tests of Bauxite by ALUTERV_FKI and NFC, and prefeasibility study done by NFC and final technical specifications of process line and utility units of the proposed plant was elaborated by Namvaran.

In this project, Namvaran consulting engineers were responsible for conceptual designs, studies related to the selection of the project site and plant layout, technical and economic studies, environmental considerations, geotechnical studies, and finally preparation of tender documents in the form of EPCC basis for Tender steps.
