Project Information

SALCO project is latest aluminum smelter complex of Iran with capacity of 300,000 TPY using modern 430 K-Amp. Technology. Increasing the capacity of complex to one million TPY was foreseen to be followed by next phases in future. This complex was installed in Lamerd Industrial Special Zone and has its proprietary wharf facilities in Parsian Port for importing, uploading and storage of feed materials which will be imported by sea-freights.

The extraction of aluminum is based on Hall-Heroult process by electrolysis and reduction of alumina with presence of cryolite in molten baths of reduction cells. There are 258 numbers of cells for designed capacity of plant and due to Electric driven nature of process, each of cells is feeding with high amperage electricity of 430 k-Amp.

The complex consists of following main units /sections:

High Voltage Power Supply Section 400/230 KV, Power Area Section including transformers /rectifiers for feeding reduction plant, Smelting/Reduction Plant, Cast House, Anode Plant, Material Handling, Utilities and proprietary sea terminal.
